Our Mission
Our story begins with our co-founder, Owen Kent, who has driven a power wheelchair his entire life. He has spent that life inside a machine that has not grown alongside him.
Technology that has not changed in years, repairs measured in months, and no ability to do anything beyond move him from one room to another.
That is the shape of the problem, and it is not really about wheelchairs. It is about the hours of a day that only happen when another person is standing there, and about what it costs a family, a care system, and a person's own sense of self to depend on that.
That is what RAMMP is for. The Robotic Assistive Mobility and Manipulation Platform pairs a modern power wheelchair with a coordinated robotic arm, on an open software platform, so the chair can take on the reaching and lifting and fetching that would otherwise wait for a caregiver. We build it with the people who will use it, because one of them helped start the company.
